Elmer G. Chestnut
90, of Carlinville, passed away Tuesday evening on July 1, 2014 at his residence in Carlinville, IL.
Elmer was born on April 19, 1924 to Edward and Nettie (Laws) Chestnut in Carlinville, IL. Elmer married Mabel E. (Brooks) Van Deusen on October 30, 1964 in Little Rock, Arkansas
Elmer was a lifetime Evangelical Minister and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville. Elmer also worked for Union Tank in Wood River for 10 years and Monterey Coal Mine for 15 years later retiring as a miner. Elmer enjoyed preaching, singing, and playing his guitar.
Elmer is survived by his wife Mabel, daughter, Sarah Jane Roose of Alton, IL; three sons, Elmer R. Chestnut of Bunker Hill, IL, Donald Lee (Vickie) Chestnut of Bunker Hill, IL and Stephen Ray (Diana) Chestnut of Bunker Hill, IL; two step-daughters, Mary Lou (Ronald) Lovell of Springfield, IL, Patsy S. (Jim) Stephens of Bethalto, IL; step-son, Bobby Lee (Donna) Van Deusen of Brighton, IL; 11 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 15 step great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; 3 step great-great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, 9 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 06, 2014 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 2:00 pm at the First Assembly of God Church, Carlinville, IL, with Rev. Josh Franklin, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Donations Information
