Franklin Eugene "Gene" Goodman
74, of Carlinville, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born on August 19, 1939 to Frank and Anna Belle (Vandergriff) Goodman in Linder Twp., Green County, IL. He attended the Greenfield schools. On February 11, 1958 he married Janice McCawley at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Carlinville, where they were members.
Gene started working as a young man, first for the Francis Brown Delivery Service, and then as a policeman for the Carlinville Police Department, serving the community for over 27 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Police Benevolent & Protective Association of Illinois. Gene loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. His hobbies included camping, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and attending sporting events.
Gene is survived by his wife Janice; two sons, Ronald Goodman (wife Jean Ann), Randall Joe Goodman (wife Sharon); two daughters, Renee Behme (husband Darren), Regina "Tink" Boente (husband Greg); daughter-in-law, Deb Boehm (husband Dennis), all of Carlinville; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Roger Goodman (wife Fran), Raymond Lee Goodman, Terry Goodman, all of Carlinville; two sisters, Patsy Scoggins (husband Stanley) of Carlinville, and Zelma Naugle (husband Russell) of Litchfield, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Eugene "Rick" Goodman; grandson, Lucas Boente; great-grandson, Ryan Dean Goodman ll;best friend, Robert Seely. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 10:00 am at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, with Fr. John Henry, officiating.
Burial will take place in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville. Donations Information
