Obituary of Janet Lee Womas

Janet Lee Womas, 66, of Carlinville, formerly of Roodhouse, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Janet was born on August 24, 1952 to Fred and Marjorie Christian in Granite City, IL. She was married to John Womas for 29 years and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2003. Janet was born blind. She attended and graduated from the Illinois School for the Blind in Jacksonville, IL and worked as a switch board operator for the Jacksonville Police Department while in school. Janet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing Uno with them at home. She loved listening to country music and her audio books, and despite being blind, Janet liked having horror movies playing on the television. Two of her favorite activities with her family was being taken for rides with her son Earl on his Harley and shopping with her "baby girl" Jodi. Janet is survived by two sons, Dell (Jessica) Womas of Toledo, OH, and Earl (Jodi) Womas of Carlinville, IL; 11 grandchildren, Dalton, Kyler, Miley, Broxton, Riley, Katie, Caleb and Maddie Womas, Nikki Davis, and Tyler and Shane Benkowski; several great grandchildren; six sisters, twin, Judy Boyle, who was also born blind, as well as, Paula Miller, Nancy Young, Barb Crabtree, Meg Lorton, and Brenda Christian. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials are suggested to the Womas family.
