Harold "Hal" Wheeler, 76, of Girard, passed away Wednesday evening, January 15, 2020 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Harold was born on August 24, 1943 to Hubert Earl and Scharline (Humphrey) Wheeler in Ball Township, IL. On October 15, 1965 he married Caryl Ann "Gerri" Rossley in Hartford, CT.
Hal graduated from New Berlin High School with the class of 1961. He received his BS from Purdue University. While at Purdue, he joined the ROTC Program and later served in the US Navy from 1970 until 1976. Hal later obtained his Master's from Sangamon State University. Hal loved photography, bowling, camping, cooking, gardening and traveling. He was an avid LA Dodgers fan.
Hal is survived by five daughters; Stacey D. Wheeler of Girard, IL, Paige D. (Brad) Ruyle of Springfield, IL, Alison D. (James) Ausberry of Harrisburg, PA, Morgan D. Wheeler (Travis Watret) of Girard, IL, and Reagan D. Wheeler of Chicago, IL; son, Kyle D. (Sonja) Wheeler of Livingston, MT; two granddaughters, Olivia Watret and Vanessa Ausberry; two grandsons, Weston and Colton Ruyle; three sisters, Mary Cummings of Springfield, IL, Barb (Tom) White of IA, and Wanda Stucker of TX; two brothers, Kenneth Wheeler of AL and Walt Wheeler of WI; several nieces and nephews.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Scharline Wheeler, wife, Caryl Ann "Gerri" Wheeler, brother, Wally Wheeler, and sister, Joyce Coe.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2020, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL, with Shawn Burgess, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Union Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Benld Adopt-A-Pet, the Salvation Army, or the American Cancer Society.
