Obituary of Morris Sutheard

Morris Lee Sutheard Jr., 64, of Thayer, formerly of Springfield, passed away on June 18, 2020 at in Thayer, IL. Morris was born on July 8, 1955 to Morris Lee Sr. and Aileen (Bailey) Sutheard in Springfield, IL. He attended some high school in Springfield before becoming blind at the age of 16. He also attended the School for the Blind in Jacksonville, IL. Morris developed a brain tumor causing his eyesight to fail. He assisted his father at work, mowed grass, and also work at the Illinois State Fair in the horse arena until he became blind. The last three years of his life he was treated with medical marijuana. He was on of the first individuals in the state to undergo such treatment due to a brain tumor. Morris is survived by his four sisters, Ethel (Alvin) Sanders of Girard, IL, Elsie June Frank of Arroyo Grande, CA, Juanita Johnson of Madera, CA, and Aileen Clemmons of Radcliff, KY; niece and care giver, Debbie Turvey of Thayer, IL; great nephews, Chantz and Cruz Scifers, as well as generations of nieces and nephews. Morris was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at noon in the Thayer Community Building located on Sycamore St. in Thayer, IL.
