Obituary of Shirley Joann Tucker

Shirley Joann Tucker, 83 of Girard, passed away Tuesday morning, June 30, 2020, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Shirley was born January 29, 1937, in Girard, Illinois, a daughter of Lawrence and Mary Lois Nichelson Miller. Shirley graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1955. She married Gerald "Jerry" B. Tucker on August 28, 1956 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Shirley had worked for AETNA Insurance Company in Springfield, IL for several years. She loved being a mother, reading, and having friends and family for dinner. Special thanks to Marlin Jackson for his care and service to both Shirley and Jerry. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Miller, daughter, Rebecca Tucker and brother, Jack Miller. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday, July 6, 2020 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Girard, IL, with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating. A funeral meal will follow at St. Patrick's Hall. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery, Girard, IL. Shirley is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" B. Tucker of Girard, IL, mother, Mary Lois Miller of Girard, IL, son, Scott (Kelly) Tucker of Middletown, IL, son, Chris Tucker of St. Charles, MO, grandchildren; Cody (Kaitlyn) Tucker, Kaitlyn (Dillon) Lemenager, and Ty Tucker, great grandson, Easton Tucker, and sister, Karen (Tony) Mosello of Highlands Ranch, CO. Honorary Pallbearers; Cody Tucker, Ty Tucker, Mike Neff, Bill Royer, Curt Hays, Curt Nichelson, Dud Nichelson, and Dean Denby. Memorials may be made to Girard Fire and Rescue or St. Patrick's Church.
