Obituary of Kristen Ernst

Kristin (Quinn) Ernst was born on November 24,1936 in Cook County, IL, the daughter of Harlan and Geneva (Ingels) Quinn and was raised in Rushville, IL. She graduated from Rushville High School and continued her education at Western Illinois University graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Home Economics. Kris dedicated her career working for and eventually retiring from the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service centered in Sangamon and Menard Counties. She enjoyed helping the community through many of the programs offered that she taught, facilitated, and managed. Kris enjoyed camping, especially in the Wyoming mountains. where she enjoyed the peacefulness of the area by sketching and painting the natural beauty surrounding her. She continued her painting and sketching throughout her entire life. She enjoyed sharing her musical talent by singing in the church choir, playing the organ and piano for church services and special events for many years. She also loved her pets (cats and dogs). She is survived by her son Robert (Renae) Ernst of Palmyra, IL; her daughter Julie (Tim) Sullivan of Sullivan, IL; 6 grandchildren: Jeremy (Heather Meyers) Szabo, Amie Szabo (Brett Beck), Hannah (Andrew) Draughan, Kyle Szabo, Samuel (Amy) Ernst, and Grace Ernst; four great grandchildren: Cali, Ty, Sydney, and Lydia. She is preceded in death by her parents Harlan and Geneva Quinn and her son Phillip Ernst. Memorial donations can be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (GDB).
