Obituary of Helen Bernice Clevenger

Helen Bernice Clevenger Helen Bernice Clevenger, 89, of Carlinville, made her journey to Heaven, Friday, January 21, 2011. She was born August 25, 1921 in Atwater, Illinois. Helen was the daughter of Herbert and Pearl (Bacon) Crouch. She married Howard Clevenger on April 26, 1940. Helen and Howard had six children and were married for forty six years. He passed away in 1994. Helen attended Atwater school in her youth. She retired from Carlinville Area Hospital where she worked for many years as the head of the housekeeping department. She enjoyed watching NASCAR every Sunday and was an avid Jeff Gordon fan. She was also a fan of country music and WWE wrestling. She spoiled many grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to spend every minute possible with them. Helen was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsie Clevenger; one son, Larry D. Clevenger; one granddaughter, Cheryl Clevenger; one grandson, Chris Clevenger; one great grandson, Alec Clevenger; three brother, Harold, Stanley and Charles Crouch; and two sisters, Dorothy Steward and Marguerite Engelmann. She is survived by three sons; Bill Clevenger, Galesburg, IL, Gary Clevenger (Carol), Medora, and Jerry Wayne Clevenger (Marilyn), Carlinville. One daughter, Sharon Clevenger, Carlinville. Nine grandchildren; Scott Clevenger, Michelle (Clevenger) Karrick (Richie), Hope Clevenger, Jeremiah Newby, Robin (Clevenger) Gilmore (Mike), Flonnie (Wooldridge) Nizinski (Nick), Dusty Clevenger, and Rusty Clevenger. Twelve great grandchildren; Brandon, Christopher, Caleb, Danyle, Rhyan, Rhachyl, Dakota, Ryken, Dayle, Hannah, Braylee, and Wyld. One brother, Herbert Crouch of Minnesota and three sisters, Frances Stults of Carlinville, Mary Jane Cottingham of Carlinville and Wilma Modlin of Litchfield. Funeral Information Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 25 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Services: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial: Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Carlinville.
