George Frederick Elliott
86 of Girard, passed away Friday morning, February 27, 2015 at his residence in Girard, IL.
George was born on January 20, 1929 to Orpheus M. and Alice (Farmer) Elliott in Mechanicsburg, IL. He was a 1946 graduate of Tri City High and also attended Springfield Junior college. George served in the United States Army as a Sgt. in the Korean War. On November 26, 1953 he married Connie Combs in Springfield, IL and she survives.
George worked for IBM in Minneapolis, Minnesota and retired in 1991. He later worked for the American Lung Association in Springfield for 10 years, retiring in 2006. George made many friends among his co- workers. He never lost his love for "The Berg" and loved telling stories about the town. In his free time, George enjoyed photography.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matthews and the staff at CIHOC Center and Memorial Home Services Hospice for their excellent care.
George is survived by his wife, Connie Elliott of Girard; two sons, Marc Elliott of Girard and Paul (Jill) Elliott of Blaine, MN; 4 grandchildren, Paul Elliott Jr., Kelly Marschel, Chelsey Carpenter and William Elliott; 2 step grandchildren, Shon and Ryan Severson; 7 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty McGowan of Springfield, IL and Kate Ray of Jerseyville, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews and his dog Booker.
George was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert and Jack Elliott and a sister, Ann Gosling. Funeral Information
