Harold L. Hauter
86, of Carlinville, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011 at Friendship Home in Carlinville.
Harold was born June 17, 1925 in Pana, Illinois, the son of Lee V. and Louise T. (Galster) Hauter. He married Norma Jean "Pat" (Boatman) Hauter in Pana, IL on July 30, 1949.
Harold was a 1941 graduate of Carlinville High School. Harold was a WWII veteran serving aboard the LST 1103 in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of Lieutenant J.G.. After the war Harold returned to college, graduating Bronze Tablet from the University of Illinois in 1948 with a degree in accounting. Harold worked for the Illinois Auditing Association before starting a long career with Prairie Farms Dairy. Harold retired from Hiland Dairy, a Prairie Farms joint venture, in 1989. Harold loved his farm, pets and his house south of Carlinville. He was an avid sports fan. Harold and Pat were football Cardinals season ticket holders for years. Harold was a member of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau and a 66 year member of the Guy Baird America Legion Post #554. Harold and Pat belong to Memorial Christian Church in Carlinville and just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Harold is survived by his wife, Pat Hauter of Carlinville; three sons, Daniel J. Hauter (Lisa) of Carlinville, David L. Hauter (Tammie) of Carlinville, and Steven D. Hauter of Springfield, MO; several grandchildren, several step grandchildren, several great grandchildren; cousin, Marie Bauer of Decatur.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Hauter. Funeral Information
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Farthing officiating.
Burial will be held in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Carlinville, with Dan, Dave, Steve, Matthew and Shaun Hauter and Dennis Boatman serving as pallbearers. Full military rites will be conducted by the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554. Donations Information
