Lester Marshall Hays
85, of Carlinville died Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013, at his daughters residence in Carlinville.
Lester was born April 5, 1927, in Girard, IL, a son of Lloyd Marshall and Eva (Wallace) Hays.
Lester served his country in the Army.
Lester was a self-employed truck driver. He started his career in 1950 by picking up canned milk from local dairy farmers and transporting to Prairie Farms Dairy in Carlinville. Over the years he leased to several trucking companies until his retirement in 1995. Then Lester moved to Oklahoma and hauled bulk milk for Milk Transport, to Highland Dairy, for 10 years. He was also known to enjoy walking in the timber, mushroom hunting with his family and teaching about plants and trees. His family will always cherish the many memories of gathering around a fire roasting hot dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Glen, Melvin and Raymond Hays.
Surviving are his daughters, Nancy (Bill) Lange, daughter, Sue Ann Barto and son, Leslie Marshall (Margie Rice) Hays all of Carlinville 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, sisters; Maxine Keltner of Waverly and Emelene Batchelder of Illiopolis and several nieces and nephews Funeral Information
Visitation will be held, Friday, March 22, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral Services will take place 10:00 A.M.Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the funeral home, with Rev. Scott Bayles officiating.
Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in rural Girard. Donations Information
