Obituary of Geraldean L. Heggy

Geraldean L. Heggy 96, of Girard, died Friday, August 6, 2010 in Girard. She was born Thursday, June 18, 1914 in Macoupin County, Illinois, the Daughter of the late Truman and the late Mary (Walk) Duncan. She married William Leo Heggy in Macoupin County in 1935. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1981. Geraldean graduated from Girard High School in 1932. Geraldean was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a cashier for Deck's Drug Store in Girard for 38 years, retiring in 1994. She was a great supporter of the Girard Library, as well as being a volunteer at the Girard Library. She and Leo were members of the Oak Leaf Country Club since 1955. Survivors: Daughter, Janice Green of Girard, IL, Son, Gary Heggy (Gloria) of Athens, IL, Son, William Heggy of Virden, IL, 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Sister-in-law, Urma Patrick (Don) of Springfield, IL. She was preceded in death by Husband, Leo Heggy, son, Jeffrey Heggy, and son-in-law, Richard Green. Funeral Information Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 9 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Graveside Services: 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Girard Cemetery. Pastor Mary Alice Cunningham will officiate. Burial: Girard Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials may be made to the Girard United Methodist Church or the Girard Library.
