Obituary of James D. Higginson

James D. Higginson James D. Higginson, 76, of Girard, passed away Tuesday evening, March 1, 2011 at his residence. James was born March 15, 1934, in Oak Park, IL, the son of Herman D. and Ruth Higginson. Jim grew up in Girard and was a 1952 graduate of Girard High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed as a painter/dry wall finisher in the Springfield area. He was a member of Painters Local 90 in Springfield for 40 years. Jim will be missed by many and will be remembered as a master fisherman and a die hard Chicago Cubs fan. Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy Leona Higginson; his son Mike Higginson (Gayle) of Girard (mother, Roberta Hickerson of Raymond); two grandchildren, Bryce and Chelsea Higginson; one great grandson, Cole Higginson; one sister, Marcia Ford (Glen) of Hampshire, IL; three step grandchildren, and several nieces and cousins. Funeral Information Visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. Thursday evening, March 3, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 4, at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Glen Greenwood officiating. Burial will follow at Girard Cemetery.
