November 21, 2014 Mervyn L. "Merv" aka "Bush" Hughes
65 of Carlinville, passed away Friday afternoon, November 21, 2014 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Merv was born on August 9, 1949 to Harold and Evelyn (Dunn) Hughes in Carlinville, IL. He was a 1967 graduate of Carlinville High School and also served in the United States Army in the motor pool transportation division during the Vietnam War. On April 24, 1971 Merv married Debbie C. Schuman at the Carlinville United Methodist Church and she survives.
Merv recently retired after 44 years with McKay Napa Auto Parts. He was a lifetime member of the Carlinville Moose Lodge and a past Governor. NASCAR was Merv's passion and he also enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his pool time in the back yard.
Merv is survived by his wife, Debbie Hughes of Carlinville; son, Curt (companion, Megan Riech) Hughes of Carlinville; two daughters, Kelly (Mike) Emmons and Lorrie (Bill) Waters both of Carlinville; parents, Harold and Evelyn Hughes of Carlinville; three granddaughters, Katerina Emmons, Kelsea Emmons and Samantha Hughes; two grandsons, Kristofer and Konnor Emmons; two brothers, Kenny (Vicki) Hughes of Carlinville and Steve (Mitzi) Hughes of Palmyra, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening, November 24, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Cross Church in Carlinville. Moose rites will follow visitation at 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, November 25, 2014 at 10:00 am at the church with Rev. Tim Rhodus officiating.
Burial and military rites will take place in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Donations Information
