Howard H. "Tennessee" Hughes 75, of Carlinville, passed away, Wednesday evening, December 22, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born Friday, October 4, 1935 in Elvins, Missouri, the son of Ernest P. and Glendav (Harvey) Hampton Hughes. Howard married Carole J. (Hacke)in Carlinville on October 12, 1963. Howard was employeed with Bonnie-Forge in Carlinville until the plant closed. He was hired by the City of Carlinville in the public waterworks department, retiring December 30, 1997. Howard was the lead singer for the band, "Country Alley Cats", with Frank Crocks for 15 years. Later, he sang for "Country Classics". His true love was his family. Survivors: wife, Carole J. Hughes of Carlinville, daughter, Keri Weller (Mark) of Carlinville, son, Scott Hughes (Kim) of Virden, grandchildren:, Senior Airman Joe Weller (Jessica) of Minot AFB, North Dakota, Senior Airman Jerod Weller (Maria) of Andrews AFB, Maryland, Ashlyn Weller (companion: Josh Harding) of Palmyra, Dakota Hughes of Virden, great-grandsons:, Tristan and Noah Weller, brother, Lee Hughes (Evelyn) of Carlinville, brother, Paul Hughes (Brenda) of Hewitt, West Virginia, Brother, Frank Hampton (Faye) of Park Hills, Missouri, sister, Opal Bilbruck of Kansas City, Missouri, sister, Anna Marie Moore of Park Hills, Missouri, several step-brothers, step-sisters, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Lair. Funeral Information Visitation for friends and family will be from 10:00 A.M.- Noon., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral service will be held after visiting hours at Noon, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials may be made to the Macoupin County Military Support Group.
