Marvin H. Jones
87, of Carlinville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2011 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
Marvin was born Saturday, July 7, 1923 in Carlinville, the son of Walter and Mable (Buffenmeyer) Jones. Marvin was a graduate of Carlinville High School. He served in the Army during WWII. Marvin married Jean (Sacre) in St. Louis, MO on June 15, 1947.
Marvin retired as a grain and livestock farmer as well as a lineman for Western Union. He was a member of the Carlinville John L. Meyers VFW Post #1104, Guy Baird American Legion Post #554, Macoupin County Farm Bureau and the Carlinville Moose Lodge.
Marvin is survived by special friends, Earlene and Gary Allen of Carlinville; sister, Ada Helen Bryan of California, brother, Paul V. Jones (Pauline) of Palmyra, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brothers Ray E., Walter Russell, Robert L. and Gerald Jones; sisters, Opal Tibbs and Pauline Strussel. Funeral Information
Graveside services will be held, Friday, May 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Carlinville. There will be military graveside rites by the Guy Baird American Legion Post 554. Donations Information
