Manning Lynn Kessinger
Manning Lynn Kessinger, 87, of Carlinville, died Sunday, January 24th, at Carlinville Area Hospital.
He was born November 12, 1922 in Carlinville, to the late Manning D. Kessinger and the late Ethel V.(Wheeler) Kessinger. Manning was a 1936 graduate of Carlinville High School. He married Virginia E. Kessinger in Jerseyville, Illinois on June 22, 1944. She preceeded him in death on March 7, 1998. His graduation from the University of Illinois in 1946 was delayed by WWII where he served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and was held as a Prisoner of War. He farmed in the Carlinville Area for many years, retiring in 2000. Manning was also an ag teacher in Toulon, Illinois for several years, and worked for the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture for many years.
Survivors: Son, James L. Kessinger (Janet) of Carlinville, Son, David L. Kessinger of Godfrey, Daughter, Lynda S. Power of Carlinville, Son, Brian L. Kessinger (Colleen) of Lincoln, Son, Marty L. Kessinger (Pam) of Carlinville, 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren, Sister-in-Law, Lucille Kessinger of Carlinville, Sister-in-Law, Mavis Hunt of Grafton. Several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceeded in death by: Two children; Cynthia and Timothy, Two sisters and one brother. Funeral Information
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 26 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Services: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 27, at Charity Baptist Church in rural Carlinville. The Rev. Charles Lyberger will officiate.
Burial: Charity Cemetery in Carlinville, where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 554. Donations Information
