Barry Lakin
of Carlinville, passed away Monday evening, May 23, 2011 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
He was born Tuesday, April 22, 1941 in Granite City, IL, the son of David and Anna (Scott) Lakin. He married Donna C. (Karrick) in Carlinville, IL on February 14, 1981 and she passed away April 29, 2009.
Barry graduated from Mt.Olive High School with the class of 1959. Barry had worked for the State of Illinois in the Secretary of State division in Springfield, Il. He accepted the position of a drivers license examiner and was transferred to the Carlinville office. He retired in January of 2011. Barry was a member of the Carlinville Moose Club and Masonic Lodge. He served as the Macoupin County Republic Central Committee Chairman until March of 2010. Barry loved to garden, tinker on small engines and lawn mowers and was a great story teller. He cherished his dog "Izzie."
Surviving family members: son, Stephen (Teresa) Springman of Tishomingo, MS, daughter, Katheryn (Kenneth) Stroup of Sullivan , MO, daughter, Carol Ann (Dan) Dawning of Easley, SC, daughter, Deborah Lynn (Kirk) Lockwood of Carlinville, daughter, Lisa Gay (Russell) Jones of Carlinville, son, Michael James (Shirley) Springman of Carlinville, son, Vernon Springman of Carlinville, daughter, Carrie L Lakin-Rhodes (Randy Foster), Staunton, brother, Jerry Lakin (Donna Carol) Granite City, brother, Tracy Lakin, Granite City, sister, Yevon Mathis (Brandon), Staunton, sister, Mary Hamby, Mt.Olive and several neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandchildren: Jeremiah Costello, Jamie Lynn Neely, Nathan Rettig, Mandy Lee Eddleman. Funeral Information
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 26 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 27, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Donations Information
