Obituary of Lena Inez Monti

Lena Inez Monti 97 of Carlinville, passed away Thursday evening, August 7, 2014 at her residence in Carlinville. Lena was born on July 7, 1917 to Michael and Ines (Gontero) Ferrero in Virden, IL. On March 9, 1940 Lena married Blase Monti in Virden, IL at the Methodist Parsonage. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1981. Lena was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Afternoon Women's Guild, Standard City Bunko Club, Atwater's Pinochle Club, Atwater's Sewing Club, Home Extension, Carlinville's Pinochle Club and the Five Star Club. Lena was an avid reader, loved puzzles, dancing, crafts and traveling. Lena also enjoyed collecting bells and salt and pepper shakers. Lena is survived by her two daughters, Judi Bloome of Springfield, IL and Joyce Pocklington of Carlinville, IL; son, David Monti of Dallas City, IL; brother, Albert Ferrero of Virden, IL; grandchildren, Dawn Prillmayer, David Bloome, Brian Bloome, Jon Monti, Melissa Lueth, Danielle Hollenbeck, Tracy Cummings and Marla Pocklington; 11 great grandchildren; a step great grandson; a step great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Blase Monti; parents; brothers, Louis and John Ferrero and a sister Ann Gazda. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 12, 2014 from 9-10 am at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville, IL Funeral services will follow at 10:00 am Tuesday August 12, 2014 with Reverend Kevin Strope officiating Burial will take place in the Virden Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or the Carlinville Public Library.
