Obituary of Bertha Geneva Nixon

Bertha G. Nixon 99, of Carlinville passed away, Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Heritage Manor in Carlinville, IL. Bertha was born August 7, 1913, in Rockbridge, IL, a daughter of Clyde and Mabel (Moran) Crist. Bertha married Harold Clinton Nixon on June 9, 1938 in St. Charles Mo and he passed away December 9, 1981. Bertha enjoyed being a homemaker and babysitting in her home for over 25 years. Bertha was the oldest living member of the Memorial Christian Church and worked in the nursery for several years. She loved watching all sports and was particularly devoted to the St. Louis Cardinals. Bertha had a cheerful, warming and contagious smile; and loved Hershey kisses and Milky Way candy bars. Bertha was always adorned and proudly wore her fashion jewelry pins that was given to her by friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marie Kelly, and brothers Louis and Richard Crist.Surviving is her daughter, Bernice M. Nixon of Carlinville, several nieces and nephews, and her extended church family. Funeral Information Visitation will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 10:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville where funeral services will be at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Farthing officiating.. Burial will be next to her husband in Charity Cemetery in rural Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials may be made to Memorial Christian Church.
