Wayne J. Bates
86, of Carlinville, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Heritage Manor in Carlinville.
He was born Monday, August 4, 1924 in Carlinville, IL, the son of Byron G. and Susie (Johnson) Bates.
Wayne was a graduate of Carlinville High School class of 1942.
He married Lillian Bates in Bridgeport, IL on November 9, 1947.
Wayne was a grain & livestock farmer in the Carlinville area throughout his lifetime. He was known for black Polland-China hogs and Simmental cattle. Wayne showed cattle and hogs and raised numerous champions throughout his lifetime. Wayne enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren as they played sports during their school years. Wayne could always be found at the Illinois State Fair watching the livestock shows. He was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church and had served on the Macoupin County Fair Board for over 20 years.
Survivors: wife, Lillian Bates of Carlinville, sons, Gary W. Bates, Eddie B. Bates (Karen), Frank A. Bates (Sharon) all of Carlinville, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother: Byron "Bud" Bates, sister: Melba Mason, and daughter: Sandy Sue. Funeral Information
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral service will be held at the Carlinville United Methodist Church, Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville. Donations Information
