Samuel D. Osborne
75, of Virden, passed away Monday evening, January 17, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield IL.
He was born Tuesday, July 23, 1935 in Hammond Illinois, the son of Samuel and Betty (Bolin) Osborne.
He married Marge Osborne and they later divorced.
Sam was a member of the Church of Christ in Hammond IL.
Sam and his wife built the Samarge Lanes in Virden in 1983. While managing the bowling alley he also worked as an aviation and automotive mechanic in the area. His hobbies included flying, motorcycles, racing and NASCAR.
Survivors: 2 daughters, Deborah G. DeWitt (Arkie) of Girard, and Dianna L. Hughes of Carlinville. granddaughter, Gail Halliday of Tuscon, AZ; Granddaughter, Michelle Vincent (Jid) of Girard; Grandson, Shawn Hughes (Jessica) of Frankford; Granddaughter, Miranda Fairfield (Corey) of Carlinville; and Granddaughter, Britany DeWitt of Girard. One Brother, Paul V. Osborne (Janet) of Decatur, along with two step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a niece. Funeral Information
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL.
Graveside service: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Hammond Cemetery, Hammond IL. Donations Information
