George Parker
age 92, and lifelong resident of Chesterfield, IL died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Elmwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Maryville, IL. George was born February 19, 1916 in Chesterfield, son of Orval R. and Mary (Lee) Parker.
George married Eleanor L. (Sarginson) on November 22, 1951 in Chesterfield, IL. There they raised their two sons Arthur and Raymond. George and his wife owned and operated the G&E Grocery on the town square in Chesterfield for 20 years.
In 1975, they sold the store and George went to work for Carlinville School District #1 and retired in 1982, after nine years of service.
George was a member of the United Church of Chesterfield and served on the church board and trustee for several years. He enjoyed bowling, bus tours and playing golf. He graduated from Chesterfield High School, class of 1934. George served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant working as a cook and baker.

Sons: Arthur R. Parker, wife Celia of Waterloo, Iowa
Raymond W. Parker, wife Kathy of Woodriver, Illinois
Grandchildren:
Celeste, Celene and Steven Ray Parker
And three nephews
Deceased family members include: parents, brothers, Eugene and Glen Parker, and sister Ruth Wallner. Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Church of Chesterfield. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Chesterfield. Donations Information
