Obituary of William Maurice Pryor

William Maurice Pryor 73, of Girard, passed away Saturday morning, March 16, 2013 at his residence in Girard, IL. Maurice was born on August 25, 1939 to William and Emma (Garst) Pryor in Springfield, IL. He attended Girard High School and served in the United States Air Force Reserves. William married Delores "Dee" Long on October 19, 1957 at the Virden Christian Church and she survives. Maurice was the production manager for Thermic Refractories of Girard, retiring in December 2004 after 50 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, building bird houses and loved watching wildlife. Maurice is survived by his wife, Dee Pryor of Girard; 3 sisters, Ione Ball of Petersburg, IL, Velma Boyd of Virden, IL and Jean Swift of Girard, as well as several nieces and nephews. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Emma K. Pryor; brother, Daryll Pryor and a sister, Thelma Grady. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard with funeral services following at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Girard Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Girard Fire and Rescue Squad or Memorial Hospice.
