Obituary of Wanda J. Rock

Wanda J. Rock 88, of Girard passed away Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014, at her residence. Wanda was born June 13, 1925, in Girard, IL, a daughter of Harry and Vera Fae Bivin Walden. Wanda met her husband Vern at college and they later married July 23, 1950, at Union Chapel Church in rural Girard. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and husband Vern on March 11, 2011. Wanda was a missionary where she and her husband served in Pakistan 1952-1981. They later served in Flushing (Queens) New York, Trinidad, Tobago, and Chicago. Wanda and her husband retired and settled down in Girard, IL in 1997. Surviving are her son, Timothy Rock of Springfield, IL, daughter, Rowena (Bob) Vail of Auburn, IL, son, Stephen (Sheryl) Rock of N.Vernon, IN, brother, Kendall (Marie) Walden of Girard, IL, sisters, Majorie Zimmerli of Springfield, IL and Gayle (Donald) Hardy of Springfield, IL, 4 grandchildren,6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews Funeral Information Visitation will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Springfield, IL. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am, Friday,April 25, 2014, at Cherry Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Patzia officiating. Wanda will be laid to rest next to her husband in Union Chapel Cemetery in Girard, IL Donations Information Memorials may be made to Evangelical Alliance Mission (T.E.A.M.), Missionary Gospel Fellowship (M.G.F.), or Cherry Hills Baptist Church.
