Ella Mae Skinner
Ella Mae Skinner, age 66, of Girard, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 5:45 in the evening at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on September 6, 1941, in Custer, South Dakota to Raymond and Glenera Clark Sheets. She was one of twelve children. She graduated from Warsaw High School in Missouri with the class of 1960. Ella Mae married Earl K. Skinner on September 3, 1960 in Warsaw, Missouri.
Mrs. Skinner devoted her life to caring for her family, and dearly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to quilt and work in her flower garden. She was known for her homemade buns and noodles.
Ella Mae is survived by six children: Alice Lorton of Arenzville, IL, Keila Jackson (Roger) of Girard, IL, Lily Barker (Bernie) of Girard, IL, Raymond Skinner (Julie Cherry) of Auburn, IL, Brenda Lowe (Bradley) of Litchfield, IL, and Brian Skinner of Columbia, MO. Ten grandchildren survive: Thomas Lorton, Tomena Bobbit, Tannon Lorton, Jonathon Lorton, Michelle Jackson, Brandy Jackson, Bethany Jackson, Autumn Spoor, Keisha Pritchett, and Alicia Lowe. Also surviving are seven siblings: Robert Sheets (Joanne) of Salem, KY, Gloria Robb (Paul) of Columbia, MO, Verna Slaughter (David) of Columbia, MO, Kenneth Sheets of Columbia, MO, Peggy Estep of Columbia, MO, Larry Sheets (Lisa) of Harrisburg, MO, and Curtis Sheets (Kim) of Hallsville, MO.
Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Mrs. Skinner is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Leonard Ray, James David, and Dexter Herschel Sheets. One sister: Mary Ellen Vanderlinden, and a son-in-law: Ernie "Sputnik" Lorton, also preceded her. Funeral Information
Friends may call at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 4 - 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for Ella Mae Skinner will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Charles White will officiate.
Burial will be in Girard Cemetery. Donations Information
