Virginia Smith 79, of Carlinville passed away, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at her residence. She was born Tuesday, September 29, 1931 in Dexter, Missouri, the daughter of the late Charles and Goldie (Coats) Gotcher. She married Clarence E. Smith in Gillespie, IL on November 24, 1953. Virginia spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker to her family. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed serving her lord and spending time with her family and church family. Survivors: loving and devoted husband, Clarence E. Smith of Carlinville, son Paul Smith and wife Teresa of Greenfield, daughters Kathy Ushman, husband Keith of Industry and Gail Esparza of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren, Jason & Luke Smith, Jimmy & Rachel Curry, brother, Don Gotcher (Alfredia) of Carlinville, sisters, Lois Hunter (Eugene) of Phoenix, Arizonia, Edna Abney (Richard) of Cape Coral, Florida, Pearl Gotcher of Carlinville and Janet Robertson (Norman) of Plainview and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 A.M., Tuesday, August 30 at the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. following the visitation. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL is in charge of arrangements. Funeral Information Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 A.M., Tuesday, August 30 at the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville with Rev. Dave Collins officiating. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. following the visitation. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers: Paul Smith, Jim Curry, Jason Smith, Carl Gotcher, Norman Robertson, Todd Schack and Honorary Luke Smith.
