Obituary of Marcella Vivian Talley

Marcella Vivian Talley 96, resided for 50 years at 729 West Madison Street, Girard, IL. For the past year and a half she resided at Pleasant Dale Place for assisted living in Girard, IL. Marcella was born April 11, 1916 in Bird Township in Carlinville. She was the oldest daughter of Kenneth and Pearl (Angelo) Stayton of Carlinville. Everett W. Talley married Marcella on March 2, 1938, they were both engaged in farming for 36 years, then moved to Girard in 1965. Marcella was employed at Miller Nursing Home in Virden and Pleasant Hill Village in Girard for 20 years as Activity Director. Marcella retired June 1, 1987 and did volunteer work. She was an active member of the First Christian Church. She also belonged to the Carlinville Historical Society, connected with home extension, and the women's club of Girard. Marcella was also active in Macoupin County Fair and exhibited for 40 years in the 4-H Club and crafts. Surviving are 1 son, Everett W. Talley Jr. (Jeanette) of Girard; 2 daughters, Marcia Rhoades (Mike) of Palmyra and Mary Underwood of Springfield, IL. She is also a grandmother of 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren. Marcella is the oldest of 7 siblings, Oella Fullington and Jean Klaus both of Carlinville, Betty Leroy of Highland and Dean Stayton (Helen) of Carlinville. Preceding her in death are her husband, Everett W. Talley; son, Kenneth Talley; granddaughter, Shawn Rhoades and brothers, Kenneth Stayton and Eldon "Jack" Stayton. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Sunday February 10, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the First Christian Church in Girard. Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 11, 2013 at 10:00 am at the church with Rev. Richard McElfresh and Rev. Jacob Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Girard Cemetery.
