Joan M. Tipps
67, of Girard, passed away Thursday evening, April 28, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Friday, November 26, 1943 in Fairfax, CA, the daughter of Francis Slusher and Geraldine (Fletcher) Slusher.
She married Whitie L. Tipps in Decatur, IL on February 1, 1973.
Joan had worked as an EMT-Dispatcher and Dog-Catcher for the towns of Girard, Virden and Nilwood. Joan retired from Doctor's Hospital in Springfield as an ER and ICU Med Tech. Joan loved her family, pottery, fishing, motorcycle riding and traveling with Whitie. She was known for volunteering at the school and at community events. Joan was an enthusiast for school sports and her charitable giving to those who didn't have.

Tipps of Girard, IL, daughter, Theresa Jeffs of Kokomo, IN, daughter, Roberta Roblez (Fiance': Mike) of Springfield, IL, son, Robert Tipps of Springfield, IL, daughter, Mary Cochran (Lewallyn) of Girard, IL, daughter, Sondra Waldrop (Dan) of Auburn, IL, daughter, Cheryl Tipps of Springfield, IL, son, Nicholas Tipps of Girard, IL, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brother, John Slusher of Reno, NV, Dale Nagle, OH, sister, Doreen Frye of Wilmington, OH, sister, Joyce Powers of Wilmington, OH, brother, Jay Slusher of Girard, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and her special dog, Scruffy.
She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral Information
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 2, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Donations Information
