Robert C. Van Deusen
Robert C. Van Deusen, 93, of Quincy, formerly of Carlinville, passed away Friday morning, March 25, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
Robert was born January 28, 1918 in Armour, South Dakota, the son of Ora and Louie (Crandall) Van Deusen. He was first married to Mable (Brooks) Chestnut on September 7, 1946 and they had three children together and they later divorced. Robert then married Stella Mae (Arnold) Flowers in April 1967 and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2003.
Robert spent his childhood in Missouri and later served in the Army-Air Corps as a Radio Operator during WWII. He was awarded three bronze stars and the distinguished flying cross. After serving in the Army he became a steel worker for Laclede Steel Co. in Alton, IL starting in 1957, later retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Grafton Full Gospel Church but attended Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Carlinville. He also enjoyed gardening and rabbit hunting.
Robert is survived by two daughters; Mary Lou Lovell (Ron) of Springfield, and Patsy Stephens (Jim) of Bethalto; one son, Bob Van Deusen (Donna) of Brighton; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; one brother, Orville Van Deusen of Hannibal, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Mausoleum of Valor in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville. Donations Information
