Obituary of Jay E. Witt

Jay E. Witt 52, of Carlinville, passed away Thursday evening, November 1, 2012 at his residence in Carlinville surrounded by his beloved wife and loved ones. Jay was born on August 26, 1960 to Loy E. and Helen (Kuntzman) Witt in Carlinville. He was a graduate of Carlinville High School with the class of 1979. Jay married Debbie Wallis on October 16, 2004 in Carlinville. Jay was a truck driver for ABF Freight and Sonneborn Trucking in Hettick. For the past 12 years Jay has worked for Repair Masters Construction in Girard as a carpenter. Jay enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and deer hunting. He was a National Demolition Derby Champion in 1994 and was known throughout the area for running his champion beagles. Jay is survived by his wife, Debbie Witt of Carlinville; son, Chase Witt of Carlinville; daughter, Catie Witt of Carlinville; son, Josh Cochran (Fiancee, Melissa Roth) of Hettick; 3 grandsons; mother, Helen L. Jennings of Carlinville; sisters, Joy Witt Aeilts of Thayer, IL and Gay Witt Turner (Mark) of Modesto IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Loy E. Witt. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Strope officiating. Burial will follow in Gilead Cemetery, Hettick.
