Charles William Wooten
80, of Girard, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 10, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Charles was born on June 7, 1932 to Charley and Rosetta (Jones) Wooten in Hazard, KT and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Palmer in 1953 in Decatur, IL and she preceded him in death on August 29, 1991. Charles later married Sharon Curry on December 7, 2004 in Carlinville and she survives.
Charles worked for Bunn Capital in Springfield, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, singing, dancing, drawing and loved to tell jokes.
Charles is survived by his wife, Sharon; 2 sons by marriage, Daniel Lambert (Fran) of Florida and John Lambert (Patty) of Springfield, IL; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, James Henry Matthews of Cincinnati, OH and 30 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Wooten; parents, Charley and Rosetta Wooten and 2 brothers, Michael Harp and Carl Wooten. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Girard with funeral services immediately following at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Shawn Burgess officiating.
Burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with full military rites. Donations Information
