Mark Stephen Bouillon
64, of Carlinville died at home on Monday, August 18, at 10:22 am, surrounded by his family, following a courageous year-long battle with kidney cancer.
He was born March 21, 1950, in Litchfield, the first child of Louis (Bud) and Betty Bouillon. He married Sandra Hollis King on October 11, 1992, in Petersburg, IL; she survives.
Mark graduated from Carlinville High School in 1968. After graduation, he was employed with Pressler Dozer Service before enlisting in the U.S. Army in February 1969. He was stationed at The Presidio in San Francisco CA, working with the Army Corps of Engineers. Following honorable discharge in November 1970, he returned to Carlinville and began employment with Monterey Coal Company as a Mine Maintenance Foreman. He retired in 2005 after 30 years with the company.
Mark loved spending time with his family, reading, model trains, and traveling. He was known for his artistic abilities, creating beautiful oak furniture merely by looking at photographs. From infancy, he had a love for farm tractors, with some of his happiest moments spent working the land. He began collecting miniature replicas, then started restoring actual antique tractors in "The Sandbox" building he built for his hobbies. Among his favorite projects was the creation of two half-scale John Deere tractors for his grandchildren to drive in the Macoupin County Historical Society tractor parades. He was a devoted member of MCHS and the Macoupin County Agricultural Antique Association, spending countless hours at the museum in construction of the Ruyle Building and doing anything that needed repair. His last project was restoring a bright red 1970 Chevy Chevelle Super Sport, a replica of a car he owned in his early 20's.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents; sons Brian (fiancée Rochelle Johnson) Bouillon of Carlinville and Kyle (Sarah) King of Oconomowoc WI; four grandchildren, Dane and Megan Bouillon of Carlinville; Peyton and Piper King of Oconomowoc WI; siblings Michael (wife Mila) Bouillon of Clovis CA; Robyn Bouillon of Carlinville; Jody (wife Jeanne) Bouillon of Gillespie; and Timothy (wife Alta) Bouillon of Carlinville; several nieces and nephews.
