Jack Brennan
84 of Girard, passed away Saturday evening, July 11, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Jack was born March 7, 1931, in Thayer, IL, a son of Raymond and Anna Karaffa Brennan.
Jack graduated from Virden High School with the class of 1949 and SIU Carbondale with a Bachor of Science in 1963. During his time at SIU he was a volunteer fireman to help with his tuition.
Jack proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955.
After graduation, Jack was employed with Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, Ct. for over 30 years as a safety engineer of buildings. After retirement, he continued working in his field for several companies as an independent consultant until his passing.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Girard. Jack enjoyed boating, fishing, movies, traveling, and music.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bernard "Bernie" Brennan.
John is survived by his sister, Geraldine (Leonard) Neff of Girard, IL, brother, Raymond Brennan of Springfield, IL, niece, Carla Mayernick of Girard, IL, nephew, Mike Neff of Girard, IL, niece, Jill Grider of Girard, IL, nephew, James Neff of Girard, IL, niece, Lisa Fouts of Girard, IL, niece, Tracy Bertolino of Virden, IL, niece, Jennifer Bucci of Florida, nephew, Brian Schultz of Colorado, several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, 1:00 -2:00pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Girard, IL. where a funeral mass will begin at 2:00pm. with Rev. James Palakudy as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Virden Cemetery with full military rites by the Elmer E. Vance American Legion Post #386. Donations Information
