Obituary of Kendall O. Walden

Kendall O. Walden, 94, of Girard, passed away on March 19, 2016 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, IL. Kendall was born on September 19, 1921 to Harry and Fae (Bivin) Walden in Virden, IL. On June 15, 1944 he married Marie Miller at the Modesto Baptist Church and she survives. Kendall started farming with a team of horses at the age of 12. He was a grain and livestock farmer in the Virden and Girard area until his retirement in 1978. Kendall finished his farming career in 2015 working the ground in a 4-wheel drive tractor. Kendall was a member of the Nilwood Baptist Church and enjoyed his grand and great-grandchildren. Kendall is survived by his wife, Marie Walden of Girard; four sons, Estel (Linda) Walden of Girard, IL; Dwight (Sue) Walden of Girard, IL; daughter, Joyce (Stanley) Qualls of Denton, TX; son, Jerry (D. Marie) Walden of Girard, IL; son, William (Deb) Walden of Springfield, IL 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Zimmerli and Gayle (Don) Hardy both of Springfield, IL as well as several nieces and nephews. Kendall was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Darrell Walden killed in Vietnam in 1969 and Leslie Walden in 2003, as well as a sister, Wanda Rock. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery, rural Girard.
