May Lambeth, 91, of Plainview, passed away Thursday evening, June 16, 2016 at
Morningside of Godfrey in Godfrey, IL. May was born on October 11, 1924 to
Ross and Rosa (Wilson) Drew in Newburg, MO. On November 30, 1943 she married
James R. Lambeth in Rolla, MO.
May was the Postmaster for the Plainview Post Office until her retirement in the early 1980's.
She and James built and operated a grocery store in Plainview in the 1960's. She was also a licensed
cosmetologist. May was a member of the Plainview Baptist Church and the
Bethlehem Baptist Church in rural Shipman. She loved gardening, quilting,
embroidering, and any hand working hobby and playing the piano. May had a great
love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the center of her
life.
May is survived by her husband, James R.; daughter, Sharon (Tom)
Beckham of Potosi, MO; two sons, David (Nancy) Lambeth of Plainview, IL and John
(Linda) Lambeth of Plainview, IL; 10 grandchildren, Kristie Gray, Kathy Neff,
Larry, Rick, Tim, Scott, and D.J. Lambeth, Sarah Tigo, Milenda Winkelman, and
Kim Smith; 15 great-grandchildren, Emillie Gray, Alexandra and Evan Neff,
Landon , Jonathan, Cecila and Lillian Winkelman, Savannah and Addison Smith,
McKayla Fisher, Ellie, Aubree, Charlotte, Geneva & Koleson Lambeth; sister, Joann
Calia of Kansas City, MO; brother, Junior Drew of Greenfield, Mo; several nieces
and nephews.
May was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Rosa Drew;
siblings, Lloyd, Pete ,Harry and Clifford Drew, Lois Burger, Florence
Williams and Ruth Falkenrath.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016, from 10:00 am - 11:30 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 12:00
noon at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL, with Rev. Ray
Robinson, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Mausoleum of Valor.
Memorials are suggested to the Carmi Baptist Children's Home.
