Eugene Longerbon, 89, of Nilwood, passed away Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016 at his residence in Nilwood, IL.
Eugene was born in Cantrall, Illinois on August 13, 1927 to Paul and Lucille (Conant) Longerbon. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947 with the Second Infantry, receiving the Victory Medal. On October 7, 1950 he married Betty Ryder and she preceded her in death on May 27, 2005.
Eugene worked for Fiat-Allis in Springfield, IL from 1945 to October 31, 1985, retiring after 38 years. He enjoyed reading, watching television and old westerns.
Eugene is survived by two sons, Paul Longerbon of Nilwood, IL and Gary (Linda) Longerbon of Elkhart, IN; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Joyce Kay Longerbon on October 30, 2009; daughter, Shirley Martin on April 7, 2016 and a sister, Pauline Johnson.
No services are planned at this time.
