Obituary of Linda Rae Guthrie

Linda Rae Guthrie, 72, of Virden, passed away Wednesday evening, November 9, 2016 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Linda was born on August 21, 1944 to Ray and Lois (Steele) Combs in Virden, IL. She married Cletis O. Guthrie on May 17, 1974 in Moline, IL and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2007. Linda worked for Sunrise Manor in Virden, serving in the laundry department before deciding to stay at home and raise her family. She was also a homemaker for her family and loved to spend time with them. Linda enjoyed Thomas Kincaid paintings and was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Virden. Linda is survived by two daughters, Teddi (Fiance, Brian) Menchetti of Springfield, IL, Janelle (Ron) Edwards of Waverly, IL and two sons; C.J. Schalk of Athens, IL; Leslie (Vickie) Guthrie of Girard, IL; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Delores Ross of Virden, IL, Arlene Ballinger of Virden, IL and Lola Lemarr of Springfield, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by parents and husband. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard with funeral services following at 11:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Silva officiating. Burial will follow in Virden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard is in charge of arrangements.
