Obituary of Betty Jane Walker

Betty Jane Walker, 85, of Carlinville, passed away Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016, at her residence.
Betty was born August 21, 1931, in Decatur, Illinois. She was one of twelve siblings born to John Henry and Viola Mae (Johnson) Ryder.
She married Harold L. Walker April 13, 1952, in Decatur, Illinois.
Betty worked as a clerk for Rushton's and Ben Franklin Stores for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at Catholic Charities and the Heart Reading Program at the Carlinville Schools.
Betty was a member of Memorial Christian Church and the Red Hat Society both in Carlinville. Betty enjoyed crocheting, sewing, needle point, crafts and playing bingo. She collected praying hands and hand figurines.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 at Memorial Christian Church, Carlinville, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Memorial Christian Church, Carlinville with Rev. Gary Farthing officiating.
Burial will follow in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Betty is survived by her husband, Harold L. Walker of Carlinville, IL, son, Phillip (Carlene) Walker, daughters, Cindy (Greg) DeJarnette, Mindy Eddy, Ellenor Karrick, Melody Harkey Dufner, Marla (Bill) Woolfolk, 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, sister, Marian (Roy) Fosnight, sister, Maxine Auton, sister, Erma Flanagan, sister-in-law, Dorothy Ryder, several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers; Seth Walker, Andrew DeJarnette, Jarod Eddy, Damien Penrod, Matthew Dufner, William Woolfolk, Honorary pallbearers; Lance Walker, Kirk Walker, Caleb DeJarnette, Nicholas Dufner, Ethan Brown, Rick Lambeth and Mitch Oswald.
Memorials may be made to Memorial Christian Church or Salvation Army.
