Obituary of Edna L. Stanfield

Edna L. Stanfield, 82, of Carlinville, passed away Tuesday morning, January 31, 2017 at her residence in Carlinville. Edna was born on May 30, 1934 to Edward "Pat" and Katie (O'Donnell) Pursey in Macoupin County, IL. She graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1951. Edna married Chester L. "Chet" Stanfield on June 30, 1956 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Greenfield, IL and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2016. Edna worked as a billing clerk for MJM Electric in Carlinville for over 50 years. She was a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, the Ladies of the Moose, Ladies of Knight's of Columbus, Royal Neighbors and the Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary. Edna was also very active with the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled. Edna is survived by two nieces, Sue Ann Wise, of Carlinville and Patty White of Girard; one nephew, Steven McIntyre, of Springfield, IL; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and a sister, Mary McIntyre. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville with a prayer service starting at 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 10:00 am at the church with Rev. Michael Haag officiating. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville.
