Obituary of Doris Jean Austwick

Doris Jean Austwick, 80, of Carlinville, passed away Friday evening, February 10, 2017 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, IL. Doris was born on August 20, 1936 to Howard and Lucille (Tuey) Talkington in Chesterfield, IL. She graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1954 and from St. John's School of Nursing in 1957. Doris married William Zane Austwick on April 13, 1958 in Shipman, IL. Doris was a Registered Nurse at Carlinville Area Hospital and home health, private duty. She also worked with Zane at Austwick Lumber Company in Carlinville. Doris was a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was the secretary of Carlinville Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed traveling, reading and being active in her church. Doris loved spending time with her grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband, Zane Austwick of Carlinville, IL; son, Brian (Kerri) Austwick of Carlinville, IL; grandchildren, Brandon, Katelynn and Bailey Buckner and Cody Austwick; three sisters, JoAnn (Robert) Wiggins of Carlinville, IL, Carolyn (Roger) Reed of Brighton, IL and Marsha (Dean) Johnson of Brighton, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Becky Austwick and a sister, Sandy Gunning. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 10:00 am at the church with Father Michael Haag officiating. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
