Obituary of Janet Kaye Borkgren Scharfenberg

Janet K Borkgren Scharfenberg, 74 of Carlinville, passed away Tuesday morning, May 9, 2017, at Carlinville Rehab Center in Carlinville, IL. Janet was born November 17, 1942, in Carlinville, IL, a daughter of Lester and Virginia (Jenkins) Scharfenberg. Janet graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1960. She married Terry Borkgren and they later divorced. Janet had worked as a nurse before finding the desire to become a teacher. She taught at North Green School District in Roodhouse for several years. Her passion was teaching special education. Janet loved to sew, work in flower gardens and could always find time for grand and great grandchildren. She loved life and all it gave her. Janet was a life member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. Janet was preceded in death by her father, Lester Scharfenberg, twin infant sisters, Janice and Jennifer and brother-in-law, Gene Burke. The Scharfenberg family will have private services. Janet is survived by her mother, Virginia Scharfenberg of Girard, IL, daughter, Danette (Paul) Helms of Carlinville, IL, son, Terry (Susan) Borkgren, III of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Jennifer Borkgren of Covington, TN, daughter, Janice (Sonny) Jeffers of Roodhouse, IL, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, sister, Judi (Bill) Fullington of Carlinville, IL, brother, Terry (Joan) Scharfenberg of TX, sister, Jerilyn (Richard) Rosetti of Springfield, IL, brother, Ted Scharfenberg of Georgia, sister, Joyce (Roy) Emmons of Carlinville, IL, sister, JoAnn Burke of Pawnee, IL and several nieces and nephews.
