Obituary of Richard Greenwalt
Richard Charles Greenwalt, 81 of Carlinville passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, at Heritage Health in Carlinville.
He was born January 30, 1936 in Carlinville to Everett and Mary (McIntyre) Greenwalt.
Richard graduated from Carlinville High School with the Class of 1953.
Richard served in the United States Army.
He married Evelyn (Tootie) Rhoads on April 19, 1955 in Carlinville. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2009.
Richard was a life-long farmer, and a member of Operating Engineers Local 520. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Plainview Masonic Lodge #461, Plainview Order of Eastern Star #665, Macoupin Chapter #187 Royal Arch Masons, Ansar Shrine Springfield, IL, Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412, and the Macoupin County Fair Board. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeena Greenwalt in 2015, brother Paul Greenwalt, and sister Myra Jean Greenwalt.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6 from 4-7 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Private family funeral services will be held at a later date with Reverend Kevin Strope officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
Richard is survived by his children, Jay (Angie) Greenwalt of Carlinville, IL, Jana (Steve) Schweizer of Edwardsville, IL, and Jodi Valdivieso of Solana Beach, CA; grandchildren Aimee (Will) Guyer of Kansas, IL, Kari (Tyler) Unterbrink of Moro, IL, Sheena Greenwalt of New York, NY, Greg Schweizer of Edwardsville, IL, Sam (Megan) Greenwalt of Glendive, MT, Bailey Valdivieso of Solana Beach, CA, Britten Valdivieso of Solana Beach, CA, Jeff Schweizer of Moro, IL, Hank Greenwalt of Litchfield, IL, and Daisy Valdivieso of Solana Beach, CA; great-grandchildren George and Grace Unterbrink and Kennedee and Kolt Guyer; brother David Greenwalt of Carlinville, IL; sister-in-law Rhonda (Mike) Caveny-Jones of Carlinville, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
