Obituary of Franklin C. Wallis

Franklin Carol Wallis, 78, of Shipman, passed away Monday morning, November 12, 2018 at his residence in rural Shipman, IL.

Franklin was born on October 12, 1940 to Clayborn and Alice (Ham) Wallis in Scottville, IL. He married Judy K. Newby on August 10, 1962 in Harrison, AR and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Franklin worked as a forklift operator for Olin Brass for 34 1/2 years, retiring in 2000. He was a life member of Union District 9 I.A.M.A.W. Franklin loved to fish, as well as hand fish in creeks. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed cutting fire wood for his family. Franklin also spent time playing BINGO and making trips to area gambling boats.

Franklin is survived by his wife, Judy Wallis of Shipman, IL; daughter, Barbara (Robert) Hausman of Bethalto, IL; son, Franklin C. Wallis, Jr. of Shipman, IL; three granddaughters, Tonya Schaaf, Jennifer Brown, and Susan Brown; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis I. Vice of Greenfield, IL, Doris Baumgartner of Carrollton, IL, Elsie Marie Hays of Bethalto, IL, Linda Sue Zirges of Bethalto, IL, Mary Alice Chapman of Gillespie, IL, and Judith K. Turner of Shipman, IL; three brothers, Charles L. Wallis of Modesto, IL, Clayborn Carl Wallis of Shipman, IL, and William J. Wallis of Carrollton, IL.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald D. Wallis; sister, Sylvia J. Schad; brother, George Wallis, and sister, Frieda Connors.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral Services will follow at 11:30 at the funeral home with Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating.

Burial will be held in Shipman Cemetery.
