As a child, my brother Brian and I every summer would fly from Los Angeles, California into St Louis to visit my Grandma Brennan, Aunt Gerry, and the entire Neff crew, “my cousins.” We were young, so when the flight attendant would walk us into the terminal, Aunt Gerry’s face was always the first that we would see. She brought me such comfort and security, and I knew I was home. These were some of the most memorable of my childhood experiences. It was at the Neff household that I felt loved, accepted, and was always “like clockwork” very well fed, and this was because of my Aunt Gerry! When I think of her, I think of words like love, sacrifice, hardworking, determined, dependable, independent, inspiring, responsible, dedicated, supportive, energetic, and faithful are honorable, but having an aunt that demonstrated all these characteristics is priceless.
