Obituary of David Rice

David E. "Gravy" Rice, 52 of Carlinville, IL passed away Monday evening, April 13, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. David was born January 24, 1968, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Richard W. and Susan Anita Marie Fisk Rice. David graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1987. He married Kathleen Mull August 22, 1998, in Carlinville, IL. David started working for the family business as a Parts Manager at Central Equipment in Carlinville until 2009. After the closing of the business, he became a Custodian for the Carlinville School District from 2009-2011. He missed the trucking business and worked for Carlinville Truck Equipment from 2011 until his health failed in 2016. David served the community as a Lieutenant at the Carlinville Fire Department for over 15 years. He enjoyed mowing the lawn and spending time with his family. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Rice. There will be a visitation and service at a later date. Family graveside services were conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. David is survived by his wife, Kathy Rice of Carlinville, IL, son, Zachary D. Rice of Carlinville, IL, brother, Mike Rice of FL, brother, Richard (Adrienne) Rice, III of Gainsville, VA, brother, Dennis D.J. Rice of Girard, IL, sister, Tammy Rice of Carlinville, IL and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the family .
