I remember him well from my years of covering the Northwestern School Board meeting. He was always personable, always smiling. I believe he always acted in the best interest of students and the community. If I saw him in any context other than a board meeting, he made it a point to say hello and engage in some small talk. I’ve covered lots of boards and city councils with scores of members. Alvin still sticks out in my mind because he was one of the special ones. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
