Obituary of Joyce Elaine Wilkinson

Joyce Elaine Wilkinson, 90 of Girard, Illinois passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 27, 2022, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Joyce was born April 1, 1932, in Patterson, IL, a daughter of Harry Vernus and Gertrude Belle (Young) Wilkinson. Joyce graduated from White Hall High School with the class of 1950. She married David Ray Wilkinson May 27, 1950 in White Hall, Illinois and they later divorced. Joyce retired in 1998 after 20 years with the State of Illinois in the EPA Department. She was a faithful member of the New Beginnings Church in Girard, Illinois. Every year Joyce hosted the neighborhood Easter Egg hunt for all the neighborhood children. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 9:00 from 10:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am with Brother Ken Lovely and Shawn Burgess conducting the services. Burial she will be laid to rest next to her parents in Pine Tree Cemetery in Patterson, Illinois. Joyce is survived by her son, Michael Ray Wilkinson of Girard, IL, son, Terry Bradford Wilkinson of Girard, IL, son, John Vernus (Michele) Wilkinson of Mt, Grove, MO, son, Timothy Scott (Laura) Wilkinson of Girard, IL, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
