Obituary of Nathan Lyle Kuntzman

Nathan Lyle Kuntzman, 61 of Virden, IL, passed away Wednesday morning, March 15, 2023, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Nathan was born in Carlinville, IL on May 12, 1961 to Estel and Ethel Janssen Kuntzman. Nathan graduated as a Bulldog from Virden High School with the class of 1979. He married Michelle Barnes in 1983 and they later divorced. Nathan was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. As a master carpenter and foreman for more than 20 years, Nathan constructed numerous homes and businesses in the area. As an avid Harley rider, he was a member of the Iron Sleds of Nilwood, IL for several years, participating in countless charitable events. He loved gardening. He often shared his gardening knowledge to help friends in their own gardens. He was a loyal fan of Jeopardy on television and tuned in every day. Nathan greatly enjoyed sharing a cold beer, some laughs and being ornery with his many friends and family. Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Estel Kuntzman, son, Corey Kuntzman, and brother, Jeffrey Kuntzman. Nathan is survived by his mother, Ethel Kuntzman of Virden, IL, son, Joshua (Christina Lance) Kuntzman of Virden, IL, son, Adam Kuntzman of Virden, IL, eight grandchildren, sister, Martha L. (Dave) Kemp of Powder Springs, GA, sister, Laurel L. (Bill) Law of Chatham, IL, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. at McLean’s Pub in Virden, IL. Memorials may be made to Virden Food Pantry, 334 W. Dean St. Virden, IL 62690.
