Whenever we think of Camp Emmanuel, we think of our dear friend, Leon Swigart. What a special man and servant of the Lord! It was a truly blessing to know him and be able to call him our friend. With loving memories, Thomas and Linda Dooly

One of my favorite memories of Leon - or Pappap, :) was on May 30th, 2022. I was talking to him, and was a little sad because I saw how Alzheimer's had taken over. In the middle of the conversation, Pappap turned to me, looked at me, and patted my shoulder. He said, "I love you."

That was so precious and special. Pappap, I love you too!!

Dad was always very willing to help his children. I can remember the many times he helped with school projects, (coming to speech class for me to interview him for my class, the time he played in the sixth grade donkey basketball game because I asked him to. Taking us kite flying, fishing, to ball games, cleaning us up after we played In the tar bubbles on the side of the road in the summer, oh ! what a sticky mess.. ) He was always busy and when he finally sat down for the evening he was exhausted and would quickly fall asleep, usually while trying to enjoy his ice cream and popcorn.

He left a legacy of love and family times. His Love for his Saviour shining forth in all his activities. Love you Dad !

I always felt that Susie and Leon were an extended family to my own. They were always caring and loving and accepting of my 3 children and me. We will always have wonderful memories with them. My prayers to all of his family.

Leon Loved working at Camp Emmuael with the kids. And He was a big part of Camp itself. I loved to hear Leons stories and listen to his advice on ministry and the bible…. He will be missed greatly but i know Him and susie are reunited.

Leon and I enjoyed many years at Camp Emmanuel. He nurtured the children thru nature and his Bible. Sometimes we would have a camper acting up....Leon would not say much but that camper would have to follow and be at Leon's side thru activities for a couple hours.. THE CAMPER WAS MISERABLE LOL!
